Dental Emergencies in Barrie โ€” We're Here to Help

A dental emergency can happen at any time โ€” a cracked tooth during dinner, a sudden severe toothache, or a knocked-out tooth during a sports game. In these moments, you need a dentist in Barrie who will see you quickly, treat you with care, and resolve the problem efficiently.

At Lakeside Smiles Dentistry, opening August 2026 at 66 Dunlop St W in Downtown Barrie, we prioritize emergency patients. Dr. Romy Pabla understands that pain and dental trauma are stressful, and she brings a calm, reassuring approach to every emergency situation โ€” getting you out of pain as quickly as possible while explaining every step of the process.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Not sure if your situation requires emergency dental care? Here are the most common dental emergencies we treat:

๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Severe Toothache

Intense, persistent tooth pain that doesn't go away with over-the-counter pain relief is a sign something is seriously wrong and needs immediate attention.

๐Ÿฆท

Knocked-Out Tooth

Act fast โ€” a knocked-out tooth can often be saved if treated within 30-60 minutes. Keep the tooth moist and call us immediately.

๐Ÿ’ฅ

Cracked or Broken Tooth

A cracked or broken tooth can be painful and expose the inner nerve. Prompt treatment prevents infection and saves the tooth.

๐Ÿฉธ

Dental Abscess

A painful swelling or pimple-like bump on your gum can indicate an abscess โ€” a serious infection that requires urgent care to prevent it from spreading.

๐Ÿ”ฉ

Lost Crown or Filling

A lost crown or filling leaves your tooth vulnerable to pain and further damage. We can restore it quickly and comfortably.

๐Ÿฉน

Soft Tissue Injuries

Cuts, tears, or punctures to the lips, cheeks, gums, or tongue can be serious and may need professional care beyond a bandage.

What To Do During a Dental Emergency

While you're on your way to see us, here's what to do for the most common emergencies:

Knocked-Out Tooth

Pick up the tooth by the crown (the white part), not the root. Rinse it gently with water โ€” do not scrub. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in a container of milk or saliva. Call us immediately โ€” time is critical.

Severe Toothache

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Take over-the-counter pain relief as directed on the packaging. Do not put aspirin directly on the tooth or gum. Call us right away.

Cracked or Broken Tooth

Rinse with warm water to clean the area. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Save any pieces of the broken tooth if possible. Call us immediately.

Lost Crown or Filling

If you have the crown, you can temporarily re-attach it with dental cement available at most pharmacies. Do not use super glue. Call us to book a same-day appointment.
